The Memory Of You
06:24
|
|||
hallelujah love has come again
hallelujah could it be it's time to mend my heart
how do i start
how i love to smell you on my skin
morning breaks to light our sleeping yin yang counterpart
and i'm moving too fast but hoping it lasts
scared to face the inevitable blast
to tell you how i feel if the truth of how i feel
is not in time with you
hello did you have a trying day
i am here let me be the one to kiss away all your woes
heaven knows
heaven knows i don't deserve your charms
oh but hallelujah fold me in your arms and don't let go
just hold me tonight love me tonight and
leave me in the morning light
just kiss my dreaming eyes and leave me
sleeping in the memory of you
hallelujah how'd we come to this
hallelujah feel the quaking when we kiss
kiss me again
willow, i'm a willow and i am bending to your breath
willing now to face the pain and let your breath cool my skin
just hold me tonight love me tonight and
leave me in the morning light
just kiss my dreaming eyes and leave me
sleeping in the memory of you

Wonderful
04:09
|
|||
You say I’m a wonderful woman
And the pedestal shakes away
You say I’m the best thing that’s happened to you
And this tear inside my soul gives way
You say we have so much in common
So much it scares me sometimes
And I’d like to grab hold of this wild pony and ride
But the cliff is up ahead just out of sight and
I will not give in till you understand
I am not so wonderful as you think I am
I see the sun set in the water
But the fire never dies
And I think I love you so hard
But I stuff it down so far inside and
It will not give in till you understand
I am not so wonderful as you think I am
‘Cause there’s a piece of me that got pushed too far inside
And it fell down in the dark to hide
And you press your fingers ‘gainst the holes
But I come apart in your hand
And I don’t know if I can stand this pain
And I don’t want you to go and I don’t want to cause you pain
Here we stand once again face to face to face to face
Will you take no guarantees and will you keep a pace
With these demons I’ve got running ‘round inside
All these monsters running through my mind
They will not give in till you understand
I am not so wonderful as you think I am
No I will not give in till you understand
I am not so wonderful as you think I am

What You Want
02:54
|
|||
you got what you want
you got what you need
you got what you want
i guess i'll be leaving
when the cat's away the mice will play
and i don't need to say who's who in this array
what i need the most i just need to ghost
i can't play the host to your parasitic ways
no one else to blame i guess i played the game
and a moth inside the flame will burn her wings away
you'll be wondering who just got through with you
you'll be burning too and i'll be on my way

What Goes Up
05:14
|
|||
little girl said mama look think i'm gonna fly today
little girl said mama look think i'm gonna fly today
and she strapped on her wings knotted the strings around her throat
with nothing to bring her down feathers singing she went up
floating spinning up she goes up to heaven up to who knows
ripping reaching up she goes and down again
mama look she cried gonna catch a star today
mama see she cried gonna go far today
and with those feathers running down her spine she looked up at this fine gentleman
flash in her eyes again catching the skies she went up
but what goes up must come down again
the reddest roses fade to brown again
and return to dust develop rust
we all fall down
down she came broke and bruised along the way
all alone she came lost and scattered and grey
she said i don't want to fly by heart it's so lonely so dark and so high
and everything comes apart in the sky
everything going up just comes raining down again
true blue love fades to brown again and returns to dust
i'm full of rust
we all fall down
little girl said mama look think i'm gonna fly today
scared as hell but mama look think i'm gonna fly today
and she strapped on her wings torn and tattered wings from long ago
she stared into the sun like a bullet from a smoking gun up

Sunset

as the sun sits on the hillside preparing its nightly magic act
clouds gather 'round to catch its colors as they fly
she pours herself a brandy and dusts off the hem of her favorite dress
shakes her hair down to her waist and drinks in the purple sky
last night her baby said goodbye
was a time she loved him to much it left her without breath
she cried and kissed him when he took her for his wife
they bought a plot of land a house with a porch and a yellow lab
lying by the fire they planned the details of their life
they never dreamed the flame could die
but love is a fire that needs tending
the embers fade so slow you cannot see
she never dreamed she would not miss his touch
she never thought she'd feel so free
he loved another woman she'd always known the truth
he cried and kissed her and she watched him down the drive
now she sips on her brandy and laughs at her hair and her favorite dress
rekindling a love that she had always denied a love from way down deep inside
and love is a fire that needs tending
and she'll be damned if she will let these embers be
though she thought she'd always need his touch
the flame is finally burning free
she never thought she'd feel so free

Backbone

guess what you haven't really got one single clue as to who i am inside
now i see it wasn't really me you tried to love and ended up so dissatisfied
and i can't believe i ever cared to leave myself behind
and try to be something of which you could approve
how could i have ever been so blind
oh yes your life's a mess but you know best how to speak my mind and live my life for me
heads up i'm not some wooden puppet for you to practice all the things that you haven't got the guts to be
and i can't believe i ever cared to leave myself behind
and try to be something of which you could approve
how could i have ever been so blind
kiss my ass
get up off your high and mighty throne
kiss my ass
don't you come one home till you've grown a little backbone of your own
all those times you chipped away chipped me down to size
all this time i thought that i was so immune only now i realize
you're so proud sitting in the crowd you think somehow that this is just another feather in your cap
your chin a condescending grin but someday someone'll clip it with a thunderclap slap
i hope i'm around for that
'cause i can't believe i never dared to leave your sorry ass behind
instead i tried to be something of which you could approve
i'm no longer so deaf dumb and blind
kiss my ass
get up off your high and mighty throne
kiss my ass
don't you come one home till you've grown a little backbone of your own
stop living everybody else's life and live your own

Hold On
05:24
|
|||
i know you've nothing left to give
i know your heart's an empty sieve
i know that you feel bruised and battered
all that matters now
i've got a soft place for you to land
i know you've got no strength to stand
let the madness overtake you
but know the madness cannot break you anyhow
hold on
i'll keep the fire inside me burning
i'll stroke your hair and know your fire's returning
we know the rules love i can't do more
but i can hold the faith you dropped outside the door
hold on
